I wanted to thank you both for the most fun I’ve ever had in a gym. It’s a great program, and you guys have it polished.
—Rina Robinson, Health & Fitness Manager, TASC (The Afterschool Corporation)
Thanks for teaching me the art of Punk Rope. You guys have been an inspiration to me to follow my dreams.
The beauty of Punk Rope is that it is extremely versatile, budget friendly, and downright fun. There are so many tiers of wellbeing built into this program: cardiovascular improvement, motor coordination, muscle conditioning, team-building skills and character development just to name a few. Great for young and old, Punk Rope can be incorporated into any fitness programming.
I am so glad I took your workshop. You have opened my mind to a new way of teaching. You are on to something great.
You were great! Thank you for an outstanding certification. I loved your “hands on” approachable style. Can’t wait to have you at our YMCA.
—Sue Diebold, Health & Wellness Director, Somerset Hills YMCA
Punk Rope has been great for the Greenpoint YMCA. We have a small fitness center and Punk Rope allows our members to get a great workout OFF the machines. I’ve seen people take this class who would never take any other group exercise class. It appeals to a huge range of people. Exercisers of all fitness levels can challenge themselves and feel good about their workout.
I attended a Punk Rope Workshop years ago based purely on my interest in jumping rope. I was not prepared, but nonetheless delighted, to have learned as much as I did. The remarkable benefit of the class is its format, which allows for participation by people of a wide range of abilities. The class achieves this by combining solo, partner and group efforts, all of which are challenging but often so fun you lose sight of how hard you are working. I have taught the class for several years and it continues to be the class that I am most excited to teach.
—Matthew Mahoney, Health & Fitness Director, Cambridge Family YMCA
I’ve taken many workshops over the years, but the Punk Rope Workshop was the most fun and down-to-earth! One of the things I really liked were the many ideas I could take back and use immediately. And the music—AWESOME!
—Barbara Van Tine
I’ve been a group exercise instructor for 23 years and have taken a LOT of workshops during that time. The Punk Rope Workshop was easily in the top 5 of ALL the workshops I have ever taken.
—Jenny Adams, Group Exercise Instructor, St. Louis, MO
Thank you so much for the great workshop. I keep RAVING to everyone about the Punk Rope format. You both did an awesome job and were very inspiring.
—Doris Swanson, Health & Wellness Director, Mel Korum Y (Puyallup, WA)
The Punk Rope training was amazing. I haven’t had that much fun working out in a while. This is exactly what I needed to take my own fitness to the next level. Thank you for giving me the inspiration.
—Jen Watson, Youth Programs Director, Thorbeckes (Centralia, WA)
We hosted a Punk Rope Workshop for our 22 Ys and it was wonderful. Punk Rope is the perfect program for the Y. It works for all ages and fitness levels.
—Sean Levesque, Director of Group X and Specialty Programming
YMCA of Metropolitan Minneapolis and Greater St. Paul
I have been going to fitness workshops for 23 years, and I have to say the Punk Rope Workshop was the most fun I have ever had. Thanks for coming to Raleigh.
—Cheryl Cox, Group Fitness Coordinator, Cary Family YMCA (Cary, NC)
There is no exam, however to complete your certification you are required to submit a short video (5 minutes or less), which demonstrates your ability to teach the major elements of Punk Rope: rope jumping, creative calisthenics, partner conditioning drills, and fitness games.
Wear comfortable workout clothes and sneakers (we prefer flat-soled shoes). Bring a notebook and pen, a change of clothes, water, and a healthy snack. Many participants also find it useful to print out and bring the Punk Rope Instructor Manual.
Assuming the video you submit is acceptable and assuming you sign the Punk Rope Instructor Agreement, you can teach Punk Rope at any facility willing to hire you to do so, or you can launch a private class. Either way, we’re happy to brainstorm with you about how to jump start your Punk Rope teaching career.
All workshops are listed on this page, under Upcoming Workshops on the right sidebar. If there are no Punk Rope Workshops scheduled in your area, consider asking your facility to host one. See above for information on hosting a workshop. Click here to download our Workshop Hosting Guidelines.
