Punk Rope has been great for the Greenpoint YMCA. We have a small fitness center and Punk Rope allows our members to get a great workout OFF the machines. I’ve seen people take this class who would never take any other group exercise class. It appeals to a huge range of people. There is no exam, however to complete your certification you are required to submit a short video (5 minutes or less), which demonstrates your ability to teach the major elements of Punk Rope: rope jumping, creative calisthenics, partner conditioning drills, and fitness games.
Wear comfortable workout clothes and sneakers (we prefer flat-soled shoes). Bring a notebook and pen, a change of clothes, water, and a healthy snack. Many participants also find it useful to print out and bring the Punk Rope Instructor Manual.
Assuming the video you submit is acceptable and assuming you sign the Punk Rope Instructor Agreement, you can teach Punk Rope at any facility willing to hire you to do so, or you can launch a private class. Either way, we’re happy to brainstorm with you about how to jump start your Punk Rope teaching career.
