Created in 2009 by Tim Haft, Beastanetics is a high-intensity, interval-training program that utilizes a wide variety of bodyweight exercises to improve the following:
Stamina * Strength * Power * Speed * Agility * Mobility * Mental Toughness
Each class begins with a warm-up that includes a series of calisthenics targeting the legs, upper body, and core. During the heart of the workout, you’ll be performing 4 sets of 6 high-intensity movements, so 24 sets in all. The movements vary from week to week and progress in difficulty over the course of the 8 week program. Work time is usually 24 seconds per set and rest time is usually 16 seconds. The workout concludes with a timed 400 meter run or skip, followed by a relaxing cooldown. If you’re new to exercise, or if it’s been a while since you were active, Beastanetics can be modified to suit your current fitness level.
In Beastanetics there are no judgments. The vibe is friendly, relaxed, and communal. Class size is limited to ensure that all students receive plenty of individual attention. And if you’re looking for results, Beastanetics delivers big time. After just one 8-week session of Beast, many of our students shave 20 seconds or more off their 400 meter run time while also improving their squats, lunges, planks, push-ups, broad jumps, and more. Not to mention that they feel better, sleep better and are less stressed and more confident.
WHAT IS HIGH INTENSITY INTERVAL TRAINING?
Beastanetics is a form of high intensity interval training (aka HIIT). HIIT features short bursts of intense exercise followed by brief periods of rest. Studies demonstrate that HIIT improves cardiorespiratory fitness (Kessler, Sisson, and Short), insulin sensitivity (Boutcher), HDL cholesterol levels, and fat loss, and that it reduces the risk of heart disease (Swain and Franklin).
