What’s Punk Rope?

Punk Rope was founded by certified personal trainer, Tim Haft, in 2004 in New York City.

Punk Rope is a playful, but intense fitness class. Our goal is to make you sweat, pant, and smile at the same time. Um, get your mind out of the gutter please.

Punk Rope improves stamina, strength, power, agility, coordination, balance, rhythm, and timing. It also burns a sh*t ton of calories (up to 20 per minute for the more intense movements) so can help you lose weight.

Punk Rope is not just about fitness. It’s also about play. And play reduces stress, stimulates the brain, and helps people connect. Yup, play is priceless.

Punk Rope is appropriate for exercisers of most fitness levels from recovering couch potatoes to competitive athletes and everyone in between.

Punk Rope has been held at some pretty cool venues including bowling alleys, rock ‘n’ roll clubs, city parks, art galleries, and even the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.

Punk Rope classes are themed and celebrate everything from the Super Bowl to St. Patrick’s Day to Super Heroes to Swedish National Day.

Punk Rope is the most popular rope-jumping based fitness class in the world. Okay, it’s one of the only rope-jumping based fitness classes in the world, but still.

Punk Rope believes in giving back. We’ve teamed up with the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, City Harvest, The Food Bank, TASC, Morrisania WIC, HealthCorps, the New York City Department of Education, The US Department of Health and Human Services, and countless other non-profit organizations and government agencies to help promote health and fitness. In the photo at left that’s me with Dr. Oz at the Highway to Health festival. Celebrities are a little odd. That’s all I’m going to say.
